Island Coast bounced back from a disappointing loss to North Fort Myers by beating South Fort Myers 60-50 Tuesday night.
The Gators led from start to finish led by Matt Jeannelis with 19 points and six rebounds. Sonel Mathurin chipped in with a monster night of 17 points and 18 rebounds.
'"We did a good job of bounding back from the loss to North," said Gators coach Greg Coleman.
The Gators (9-12) play at Port Charlotte Friday and Fort Myers on Saturday.
Golden Gate 60, Mariner 53: Rodney Hunter pitched in 24 points to lead Mariner in a loss to Golden Gate Tuesday night.
"We didn't make enough plays to win in the fourth quarter," said Tritons coach James Harris.
Kaleb Darrett contributed 16 points for the Tritons, who trailed most of the way.
The Tritons (14-6) play at Fort Myers on Thursday.
Lely 53, Cape Coral 48: Having made a defensive stop to force overtime, Cape Coral didn't have enough left in the extra period to pull out a win against Lely Tuesday night.
Jevon Boyd led the Seahawks with 15 points, backed by Marcus Blackwell with 12 points and eight rebounds and Joe Maseros with seven.
The Seahawks led the entire game until the final 10 seconds of regulation when their defense held Lely with the score tied. They missed some key free throws in OT to allow Lely to pull out a victory.
The Seahawks (10-9) play at Estero on Wednesday.
Port Charlotte 65, Ida Baker 48: Ida Baker's season struggles continued Tuesday night in another setback against Port Charlotte.
Chris Snyder led the Bulldogs with 16 points, Nick Benvie added 13 and Derrick Loza contributed 12 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Baker (3-14) plays at North Fort Myers on Friday.
Mariner 62, Palmetto Ridge 40: Mariah Ortiz and Grace Waller combined for 23 points to lead Mariner to victory Tuesday at Palmetto Ridge.
Otiz tallied 12 points and Waller 11 in the win. The Tritons (8-16) host Fort Myers Thursday.
