Girls’ district soccer kicks off Monday

It might seem like the high school soccer season just got under way, but postseason play begins Monday with the girls' district tournament. The boys' district tournament begins the following Monday, Jan. 20.

Island Coast hosts the District 3A-13 tournament, which includes all of the Cape's major programs. Four games are on tap Monday, starting at 1 p.m. with South Fort Myers taking on Cape Coral.

North Fort Myers tackles Lemon Bay at 3 p.m. followed by Ida Baker and East Lee County at 5 with Mariner clashing with the host Gators at 7.

The semifinals will be played on Wednesday at 5 and 7 p.m. The championship game is 7 p.m. on Friday.

Third-seed Oasis (5-4-1) opens the District 2A-12 Tournament by hosting sixth-seed Dunbar (0-10) at 7 p.m. Monday. The other first-round match pits fifth-seed LaBelle traveling to fourth-seed Gateway Charter.

Monday's winners advance to the semifinal round on Tuesday at top-seed Bishop Verot (10-0) with the championship games set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Vikings Stadium.
