William Elmer Anderson Jr. was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Chicago to his parents William and Anna L. (Rehm) Anderson and passed away Dec. 26, 2013, in Cape Coral.
He attended Austin High School and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Bill and Betty Sue Hargrove were married Dec. 29, 1950. He worked for the Chicago Public Schools for nearly 40 years, retiring as chief engineer at Wells High School in 1989. His retirement was spent between Twin Lakes and Southern Florida until 2003 when Bill and Sue made a permanent move to Cape Coral.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Sue (Hargrove) Anderson; sons, David (Carol), Stuart (Mary), Gary (Patty), Paul (Tish) and Mark; grandchildren, David, Daniel, Julie, Kelly, Jennifer, Nicole, Matthew, Jill, Patrick, Beth, Amy and Paul Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; and his sister, Delores "Bunny" Petersen.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Grace; his parents; and good friends Joe Varco, Carl DeStefano and Ken Busch.
A celebration of his life will take place in Twin Lakes, Wis., on a date to be determined, this coming spring, which will be announced by family members.
