Seahawks overmatch Panthers 61-42

Joe Maseros got hot, pitching in a game-high 25 points Thursday night to lead Cape Coral to a sloppy 61-42 victory at Cypress Lake.

Jovan Boyd contributed 12 points and Eric Martin eight. The Seahawks (5-3), who led wire to wire, host Golden Gate Friday.

Dunbar 56, Island Coast 52: Island Coast could not get over the hump at the end Thursday night despite double-figure scoring by Morgan Foreman and Descota Hilliard in a four-point loss to Dunbar.

Foreman tallied 17 points, Hilliard 13 and Sonel Mathurin grabbed 10 rebounds. The Gators (3-5) are idle until Mariner's Christmas Tournament next weekend.

Mariner 48, Immokalee 33: Kaleb Darrett knocked down a team-high 20 points to lead Mariner to victory Thursday over Immokalee.

Rodney Hunter contributed 12 points toward the win. The Tritons (6-2) play Friday at Cypress Lake.

Boys Soccer

Cape Coral 5, Fort Myers 0: Freshman Kevin Retana scored two goals and Camillo Avendano came through with three assists in leading Cape Coral to victory over Fort Myers Thursday night.

Jonathan Jimenez, Miguel Martinez and Eli Vega each added one goal with Mateo Arango and Austin Sweesy contributing one assist apiece.

Goalkeeper Alex Colazo had five saves to preserve the shutout for the Seahawks (12-1, 5-0 district), who play a district match Friday at East Lee County.

Bishop Verot 4, LaBelle 1: Tyler Yergens delivered a hat trick and Zachary Cloutier contributed the other goal in Bishop Verot's victory Thursday over LaBelle.

Goalkeeper Ricardo Martinez made four saves for the Vikings (9-0-2), who kick off against Evangelical Christian on Wednesday.

Girls Soccer

Bishop Verot 7, LaBelle 0: Kelly Reynolds went the hat trick one better Thursday night, scoring four goals to lead Bishop Verot to victory over LaBelle.

Katie Sullivan added two goals with Allison Oliva adding one. Samantha Webb-Martin handed out two assists with Reynolds, Sullivan and Oliva each credited with one. Goalkeeper Kinzie Frey made two saves to preserve the shutout.

The Vikings (13-0-2, 10-0 district) play in Mariner's Triton invitational next weekend.

Girls Basketball

Cape Coral 67, Cypress Lake 41: McKenna Beach pitched in a game-high 27 points to go with 10 steals in leading Cape Coral to a District 5A-12 victory Thursday over Cypress Lake.

Crystal Townsend also contributed a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds for the Seahawks (12-1), who travel to Golden Gate on Friday.

Mariner 49, Immokalee 31: Grace Waller pitched in 16 points Thursday night to lead Mariner to its first district victory of the season at Immokalee.

Katie Adams added seven points for the Tritons (5-10, 1-3 district), who host Cypress Lake Friday.
