Sex, lies, and videotape

December 12, 2013
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

Common daily news reports are replete with the lies uttered by President Obama. These lies are centered on the citizens being allowed to "keep your current hospitalization plan," and that these same citizens can "keep your doctor, period."

The videotapes of these speeches by him are dated, and they are damning!

His cover today is masked by other events and scandals of his administration. When his supporters try to deflect criticism of his recent and ongoing lies of the ACA, those reporters cover his actions by saying that other presidents lied as well. Is this acceptable? If you keep quiet and say nothing you are giving tacit approval to these lies. You deny accountability. And so they persist.

The actions/lies of past presidents, in some cases, were vilified in the press. In the case of President Clinton the issue of impeachment was raised. His actions did not affect millions of U.S. citizens. How often did we hear the phrase "Bush lied, people died?" The lies being perpetrated by President Obama affect this country to the tune of billions of dollars. And where is the outcry? Where is the call for impeachment?

This silence is damaging on a scale without precedent in our history. Perhaps greater than any other event in the history of mankind, and there is only the silence of tacit approval.
