Faith Presyterian to celebrate opening of new sanctuary

December 13, 2013
Special to The Breeze (news@breezenewspapers.com) , Cape Coral Daily Breeze

It has been in the works for 10 years. Now, with great excitement, Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral will debut its new sanctuary Sunday, Dec. 15, with three services that each include a Christmas Concert by the Faith Choir and a 10-piece orchestra. All are invited to celebrate with the congregation in the re-imagined, revitalized and remodeled sanctuary. Services are at 8:15, 9:30 and 11 a.m., at 4544 Coronado Parkway, Cape Coral.

Head Pastor H. Timothy Halverson said, "This is the culmination of 10 years of work and planning. We knew we had a need for more space for our growing ministry which first included acquiring more land. Our project was not only to provide a new and beautiful sanctuary with more sanctuary and choir seating, a cry room, updated nursery and toddler rooms, expanded restrooms and overflow seating in the narthex, but to also add needed classrooms and parking. Our vision was, and still is, to be a church of hospitality, a church where Christ's transforming love is available to all (which meant that we had to provide each person with a seat and parking space, a wonderful challenge that our congregation accepted)."

The project was broken down into three campaigns: Living Faith, Building Faith and Growing Faith.

"It's been a long journey, but we have completed the project one step at a time," Halverson said. "It has been an exciting time to be a part of the Faith family. As we complete the final stage of our third campaign (the new sanctuary), together we have found that we can accomplish great things."

In addition to offering expanded seating capacity, the sanctuary has more space up front for choirs and musicians, and new technology to enhance the worship experience for members and guests. Among the new technologies included in the audio system design for the church, is a hearing-assist loop system, which works for T-Coil hearing aids or for stand-alone head-phone loop receivers.

"Custom Sound Designs Inc., a national leader in comprehensive audio, video and lighting solutions for the house of worship market, created a full suite of design services for audio, video, lighting and acoustic systems that are fully integrated to meet all our needs," Director of Operations Janice Hiner said. "We have upgraded to a PreSonus StudioLive performance and recording digital mixing system for worship services and musicians. We have also upgraded sanctuary lighting to a Philips Lighting Control System, as well as high definition video."

Another enhancement ithe addition of four new ranks of organ pipes as well as a refurbishing of the old pipes.

Faith's Director of Music and organist Michael Helman saiod he appreciates the overall warmth and breadth of the sound in the new sanctuary.

He explained, "You can physically feel the sound, more than we have ever had before. As a musician, of course, it's important to me that the music and sound is first rate. Making the sound the best it can be was a priority on our list for the new sanctuary. I'm glad that others understood the need and allowed us to take it to this level."
