After scoring big savings on this year's holiday gifts during Black Friday, the fun and excitement will continue into the night in Cape Coral with the second annual South Cape Black Friday Party Crawl.

Hosted by the South Cape Hospitality and Entertainment Associations, the event runs from 7-11 p.m. today in the downtown Cape. Ten local nightclubs and bars will each offer $2.50 speciality drinks.

Passports for the crawl can be picked up at any of the participating venues.

"It's a great way to unwind after a great day of shopping," Shelly LaPaglia, owner of BackStreets Sports Bar, said Wednesday. "And possibly win some more Christmas gifts."

At each venue, participants will have their passport stamped; no purchase is necessary. Passports stamped by all 10 venues can be turned in at the end of the crawl for a chance to win a prize.

There are 22 prizes, totaling more than $1,500, such as a 43-inch flat-screen Samsung television.

"We also reach out to area businesses to see if they would like to donate," she said.

There is a one-night stay for two at the Dolphin Key Resort including a welcome glass of wine and a round of golf for four with a cart at the Myerlee Country Club. There are also $50 gift certificates from each of the participating venues and $50 gift certificates from several area restaurants and businesses.

"Our slogan is, "Don't wait in line to buy your gifts this year. Win them at the Black Friday Party Crawl," LaPaglia said.

Completed passports can be turned in at any of the participating venues.

"We will pick the winners on the following Wednesday," she said.

The speciality drinks featured for the crawl are at the discretion of each venue.

"It's whatever they want to offer," LaPaglia said.

BackStreets will be serving up $2.50 pumpkin martinis and pumpkin beer.

"It's the season," she said of her bar's selections.

The beer is Terrapin Beer Co.'s Pumpkin Fest, and the martini will be a concoction of pumpkin pie vodka, whipped vodka and Rumchata, which is advertised as a Caribbean rum with real dairy cream.

Along with the drinks, participants will be treated to some great entertainment.

"There's live music at most locations," LaPaglia said.

The outside bar at BackStreets will feature an acoustic duo from 6-9 p.m., followed by the band DVS from 9:30 p.m. until close. The Clanton Gang will perform at the inside bar throughout the night.

"Instead of waiting in line at stores, come out to your local businesses," she said. "Have fun and win prizes."

There is no cost to participate in the crawl; the passports are free
