Southwest Florida International Airport reports drop in passenger count in October

During October, 478,376 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, a decrease of 1.3 percent compared to October 2012. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 4.2 percent from the same period last year.

The traffic leader in October was Delta with 105,429 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (84,643), US Airways (60,706), JetBlue (53,607) and United (42,731).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 5,365 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), an increase of 3 percent compared to October 2012. Page Field saw 6,635 movements, an 8.5 percent increase from October 2012. In addition, 2.6 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in October 2013, a decrease of 3 percent compared to October 2012.
