Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Kuypers, 92, of Cape Coral, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013. She was born Aug. 23, 1921, in Quebec, Canada, to Stuart and Daisy Marguerite Marie "Madge" Graham. She had loved living in Cape Coral since 1968.
She will be missed by a multitude of friends and family. She was a kind, generous woman who loved people, animals and life in general. In the last few years, she crocheted over 1,000 hats for Haitian women and dozens of scarves for her caregivers and friends. That was her way, always trying to do something for others.
She was a member of Lighthouse Fellowship Church in Cape Coral, Florida West Writers and a former president of the British Commonwealth Club. She had taught "Bunka" embroidery, knitting and crocheting at the Cape Coral Yacht "Hobby" Club since 1977, and in more recent years, had developed a passion for writing children's stories, often drawing on her own childhood for inspiration. She was also a talented watercolor and needlepoint artist and loved gourmet cooking. Her greatest delight though, was living long enough to enjoy her only great-grandchild, Austin (age 19 months at the time of her death).

She is survived by her daughters, Trudi (Donald) Williams of Fort Myers and Carol (Mark) Beauvois of Cape Coral; one brother, Robert Graham of Quebec, Canada; one step-daughter, "Bunny" Sanne; six grandchildren, Ryan Williams, Kristen (Stephan) Simmons, Shannen (Jordan) Cusick, Danielle Beauvois, Jennifer (Justin) Hayman and Julianne (Blake) Kennedy; as well as her great-grandson, Austin Hayman; 4 step-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kuypers was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Kuypers; three sisters, Sylvia Rex, Madge E. "Peggy" Scully and June Likeness; as well as a step-daughter, Joyce Richards.
In order to honor her wishes, no funeral/memorial services are planned. She would have preferred that the next time her many groups of friends or family are together that they remember her and raise their glass with a toast, to celebrate your memories and her life.
