Special to the Breeze , Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The FGCU men's soccer team, fresh off claiming an unprecedented fourth-consecutive A-Sun regular-season title, is the host team for the Atlantic Sun men's soccer championship.

The two-time defending tournament champs and top-seeded Eagles (8-6-2) walk onto the FGCU?Soccer Complex field at 7 p.m. Friday against fifth-seed North Florida (7-6-3). The winner advances to the championship game at 1 p.m. Sunday where they face the winner of Friday's 4 p.m. match between third-seed Lipscomb and second-seed ETSU.

In seven previous meetings with the Ospreys, the Eagles have dominated all seven.

The Eagles enter the conference tourney having yet to lose a match in this event. Much of their dominance in the playoffs can be attributed to their strong play at home. They are 4-0 all-time tournament record with all four of those matches played as the Soccer Complex.

The Eagles have now gone unbeaten in 25 straight home games against conference members. That streak stretches back more than five years to Oct. 19, 2008, when the Eagles lost to Jacksonville 2-0.

Sunday's championship game will be featured on ESPN3, ESPN's live multi-screen sports network accessible online at, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, and streamed on televisions through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members and on Apple TV.

Any student of an A-Sun institution will be admitted for free with a valid university I.D. FGCU faculty and staff will be admitted for free as well. Youth ages 14 and under will be admitted for free if they are wearing a soccer jersey or green or blue.

Youth tickets cost $3 while adult tickets are $6.
