November 15, 2013
By JIM LINETTE ( , Cape Coral Daily Breeze

While most area football programs have stowed away their equipment for the offseason and waiting till next year, six Lee County teams have been practicing hard all week for the start of the playoffs tonight.

Island Coast and South Fort Myers have homefield advantage in their regional quarterfinal matchups, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Ida Baker, Bishop Verot, Dunbar and Estero all are on the road to start the playoff run however long it lasts.

"We expect a good crowd because it should be a good game," Island Coast athletic director Liam Farrell said Thursday. "Any time you stay at home it's a good thing. In the playoffs you are facing new teams, the crowd is behind you and in that situation you want as many familiar things around you as you can."
