Mariner boys win soccer debut 6-0

The Mariner Tritons opened the boys' soccer season campaign Tuesday night with a rousing 6-0 victory at Charlotte.

The Tritons got two goals each from Austin Turner and Ray Gerke while Joey Lane and Erick Rivera added one goal apiece. Lane, Rivera and Turner also contributed with one assist apiece.

"We got great defensive work from Jomar Restrepo, Austen Hobson and Trevor Jurkowski, too," said Tritons coach Martin Cardenas.

Michael Laborde and Alex Trujillo shared goalkeeping duties combining for five saves.

The Tritons (1-0) host Evangelical Christian for their first home match at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Girls Soccer

Mariner 4, South Fort Myers 0: Four different players scored goals to sent Mariner to its third victory of the season Tuesday against South Fort Myers.

Goals were scored by Heather Gillions, Sarah Hamilton, Briana Douglas and Yasmeen Saenz.Goalkeeper Alexis Restrepo made eight saves to preserve the shutout.

The Tritons (3-0) host Fort Myers on Thursday.

Oasis 2, Gateway 0: Brittany Skinner and Morgan Kubarek scored goals to carry Oasis to victory Tuesday night at Gateway Charter.

Brianna Price and Madison Jewett assisted on the goals while Kayla Luchan recorded her second shutout as goalkeeper.

The Sharks (2-1) host Dunbar at 6 p.m. Thursday.

North Fort Myers 2, Island Coast 0: Darian Leschewski and Megan Richards accounted for the goals Tuesday night in North Fort Myers victory at Island Coast.

Goalkeeper Jacquie Schrivanich made five saves to record the shutout.

The Red Knights (2-0) play Wednesday night at Gulf Coast.
