Jean Carolyn Strong, 78, of Cape Coral, died Oct. 5, 2013, at the Cape Coral Hospital. She was born on July 21, 1935, in Chicago, a child of Fred and Helen (Radtke) Obst Sr.
She moved to Linwood, Wis., in 1940 and was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Stevens Point, Wis. She served two terms in the early 1980s as the 2nd Ward Alderman and served on Park and Recreation Commission, both in Stevens Point, was also involved as past president of Christian Women's Club and a Girl Scout leader. In 1989 she earned an associate degree from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.
She moved to Cape Coral in 1995, was a member of First Assembly, Fort Myers, and active in Living from the Life of Christ Bible study. She also enjoyed being an usher for several years at the Barbara B Mann Theater, Fort Myers.

She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, playing cards and spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved studying God's Word.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joseph F. Strong; her children, Brian (Martha) Strong of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Pamela (Tim) Dieckman of Menomonee Falls, Wis., Kirk Strong of Cedarburg, Wis., and Paula (George) Slattery of Franksville, Wis.; her grandchildren, Darren and Nathan Dieckman, William, Samantha and Angela Slattery, Zander and Madison Strong; and her brother, Fred (Barbara) Obst Jr. of Stevens Point, Wis.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m., in First Assembly Church,4701Summerlin Road, Fort Myers. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to First Assembly Women's Ministry at the above address.
