Linda L. Murphy, 65, of Cape Coral, formerly of Key West and Philadelphia, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, in Cape Coral. She was born Oct. 16, 1947, in Oil City, Pa., to James and Jeanne Clifford.
When she was 11 years old she was stricken with polio. Despite having to take an unplanned path in life she entered a rehab facility to learn how to cope with such a illness along with the typical things a preteen had to learn. She continued school and graduated from Ridgway High School in 1965. While in rehab she would end up meeting and marrying her soul mate, who also had suffered from a major physical disability. Together they navigated through life, living it to the fullest, meeting many good friends and finally coming to rest in Cape Coral. She worked several years in the insurance business in Philadelphia.
She enjoyed animals and nature which she would often transfer onto paper. Her second love was painting and drawing. She was a very strong, independent person who kept fighting until the end.
She is survived by her mother, Jeanne Clifford of Ridgway, Pa.; one sister, Jolene Krise (Mark) of Ridgway, Pa.; one brother, Jeff Clifford (Stephanie) of Kersey, Pa.; four nephews, Zachary, Chris, Tony and Bobby; as well as three nieces, Cather, Sally and Kara.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Murphy, in 2008; her father, James Clifford, in 2005; and her sister, Vicki Caros, in 2010.
