Bulldogs win volleyball season finale

Ida Baker was pushed to the limit of a straight-set victory Thursday night by Dunbar in the regular season finale.

The Bulldogs prevailed 25-17, 25-22, 25-21 behind the trio of Amanda Gross, Kristina Kayatta and Leah Meredith. Gross led with five kills, five digs and two blocks. Kayatta chipped in with five kills, four service aces and four assists while Meredith served up five aces to go with 12 digs.

The Bulldogs (15-8) travel to Port Charlotte Tuesday night to play the Pirates in the semifinal round of the District 6A-11 Tournament.

Island Coast opens the tournament Monday night at North Fort Myers with the winner advancing to the semifinals Tuesday at Venice. The champion will be crowned Thursday night.

Estero 3, Island Coast 1: Island Coast wrapped up regular season play Thursday night with a 25-19, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18 loss at Estero.

Kalli Roggow led the Gators with nine kills, seven digs and seven service aces. Julia Rose contributed three aces, three digs and 19 assists while Jennifer Fasano added five kills and four digs.

The Gators (7-17) play Monday in the first round of the District 6A-11 Tournament at 7 p.m. at North Fort Myers.

Oasis 3, Canterbury 0: Oasis improved its season record to 16-7 Wednesday night with a 25-16, 25-22, 25-22 victory over Canterbury.

Larra Bickelhaupt led the Sharks with nine kills and 12 digs while Jordan Westendorf contributed six kills and four blocks. Alexis Robbins added four service aces with one kill and 18 digs.

The Sharks are set to face LaBelle at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the District 4A-11 Tournament semifinal match at LaBelle. The winner advances to the championship game Thursday night.

Bowling

Mariner 3, Fort Myers 2: Quinn Mossey had the match medalist game of 232 Thursday at the Tritons edged Fort Myers at Pin Street Lanes.

Freshman Ian Cyrus contributed a season-high game of 198 for the Tritons (8-3), who host Ida Baker on Tuesday at Coral Lanes.
