Baker survives strong test

Ida Baker survived a strong test from Cypress Lake Tuesday played in a postseason atmosphere as the regular season grinds to an end. The host Bulldogs dropped the opening game, then rallied for a 22-25, 25-21, 25-17, 28-26 nailbiting victory.

Amanda Gross led the Bulldogs with 10 kills and 23 digs to go with six service aces and five blocks. Kristina Kayatta delivered 11 kills and six blocks with eight digs while Devin Ramey added eight kills and 13 digs. Tiffany Wood handed out 25 assists.

The Bulldogs (14-8) play their final regular season match Thursday at Dunbar with an eye on the District 6A-11 opener on Tuesday at Port Charlotte.

Island Coast 3, East Lee County 0: Kalli Roggow delivered seven kills to go with seven service aces to lead Island Coast to victory Tuesday over East Lee County 25-12, 25-10, 25-12.

Tiuana Marrero contributed four aces for the Gators with Kayla Heavlin adding three kills.

The Gators (7-15) travel to Estero Thursday night.

Riverdale 3, Cape Coral 0: Riverdale coasted past Cape Coral Tuesday night in the final regular season matchup for the Seahawks 25-13, 25-12, 25-6.

Samaria Jones was credited with eight blocks and two kills and Katie Upton handed out seven assists to lead the Seahawks (7-12), who take on Mariner Monday in the District 5A-12 Tournament opener at Mariner High School.

Bowling

Mariner 3, Cape Coral 2: Justin Williams (215) and Quinn Mossey (279) led the Tritons past city rival Cape Coral Tuesday at Coral Lanes. The Tritons face Fort Myers Thursday at Pin Street Lanes.
