Edward Charles Moritz, 79, a Cape Coral resident since 1996, formerly of Hamilton Township, Mercer County, N.J., passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 12, 1934, in Glassport, Pa., to Frank and Ida Urbanski Moritz, now deceased.
He retired from the Painters and Paper Hangers Local #301 in 1996, from Princeton University. He spent his retirement years enjoying up keeping his house in Cape Coral, showing his every day love for his family and always looked forward to a fine dining experience with his wife.
Most of his family and friends will remember him for his love for singing "Johnny Cash" among other karaoke favorites, playing cards with the guys, the ability to beat his grandkids in playing pool, enjoying his cat, Daisy, and walking his dog , Princess.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Thelma Moritz (retired New Jersey Credit Union League) of Cape Coral; two sons, Edward N. Moritz Barnegat, New Jersey, and Charles "Chuck" F. (Grace Wong) Moritz of Cape Coral; a brother, Frank "Sonny" (Betty) Swiezkowski of Hamilton Township, Mercer County, N.J.; two grandchildren, Erik Moritz of Tuckerton, N.J., and Lauren Moritz of Beach Haven, N.J.; a sister-in-law, Joyce L. (Richard) Wild of Tacoma, Wash.; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as Princess the dog and Daisy the cat.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Moritz Undrik; and a brother, Frank Moritz.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Hope Hospice Chapel, 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, with Dr. Charles A. Peal officiating.
