To the editor:
Censorship is alive and well at The Cape Coral Breeze. Last week I wrote a letter to the editor and only part of what I wrote was published. The Breeze censored half of my letter and did not print it. Nice going editors.
Now on to something else, last night city council voted not to fund street lighting at school bus stops saying the city is broke and has no funding available. REALLY?? If we have no money where did you find funds to pay across the 5 percent bonuses to all your city union workers? I guess the children in Cape Coral don't matter to you guys.
I was even surprised by the council man from district 7 not support this being an ex school teacher and a school administrator. I applaud Cariosia for his support of our children's safety. It also shows McGrail's non support to our children just like his non-support of our disabled veterans. He led the charge to deny the lighting. Look, you all just started collecting your (rammed down our throats) PST and, according to the Lee County Property Appraiser, a jump in property values in the city you all have more money than you know what to do with. Surely you can find $30,000 to put street lights in. Hey, so you don't pave a block or two, at least protect our children.
Let's see if the Breeze will print this letter without censorship.
