To the editor:
Tammy Hall did the wrong thing. She stepped across the line of propriety and it cost her a job that she did well. Sadly for Lee County, we lost a Commissioner who served with class, with compassion, and with extraordinary expertise!
This is not to excuse her violation. This is to say, however, that it's not good form to dismiss a lifetime of goodness and giving because of a misstep. Tammy Hall, because of years consisting of hard work and contributing to the growth and well being of Lee County, has earned our appreciation and our favor, she does not deserve our vengeful condemnation.
This is a good person and it's now time for all of Lee County, including every elected official, especially the Commissioners, to step up to the plate and support Tammy Hall. This is not a time for anyone to be politically correct, this is an opportunity for each elected official to recognize that we are all human, we all make mistakes and it is compassion, not condemnation, that will show well for each individual.
The Commissioners should be first to speak out for Tammy Hall -and we expect no less. No hiding under your desks, we expect you to do the right thing!
