Bulldogs, Sharks volley to wins

In a crosstown showdown on the volleyball court Monday night, Ida Baker pulled off a straight-set victory over Cape Coral. The Bulldogs outscored the Seahawks 25-19, 25-16, 25-20.

Kristina Kayatta topped the Bulldogs with eight kills and 15 digs. Amanda Gross added seven kills, four aces and 19 digs. Devon Ramey contributed six kills, seven aces and 16 digs while Tiffany Wood handed out 19 assists.

Samaria Jones was credited with six blocks and two kills to lead the Seahawks. Danielle Smith added seven digs and katie Upton had six digs and two aces.

The Seahawks (7-8) host Lely on Tuesday while the Bulldogs (13-6) travel to Venice Tuesday.

Oasis 3, North Fort Myers 1: Jordan Westendorf and Larra Bickelhaupt powered Oasis to a four-set victory Monday night over North Fort Myers 25-15, 25-12, 24-26, 25-13.

Bickelhaupt delivered 17 kills to go with 12 digs, two blocks and one service ace. Westendorf added 12 kills, two aces and three blocks.

The Sharks (13-6) host Dunbar Tuesday night.
