October 4, 2013
Special to the Breeze , Cape Coral Daily Breeze

With 70 non-conference matches now in the books, Atlantic Sun men's soccer league play begins Friday with seven league matches this weekend.

FGCU is trying to become the first team in conference history to claim four straight outright regular-season league titles. The Eagles won last year with a 6-1-1 record, while posting a 7-1-0 mark in 2011 and a perfect 9-0-0 record in 2010.

The Eagles have posted a 22-2-1 record in conference play over the past three years.

The Eagles (2-5-1), riding a two-game winning streak, host Lipscomb at 7 p.m. Friday with Northern Kentucky making the long trek to the FGCU?campus for a 1 p.m. kickoff Sunday.

The Florida Gulf Coast University women's volleyball team aim to extend its current win streak to four games as the Eagles travel to Stetson on Friday.

The Eagles (5-10) enter the weekend after easily defeating Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday in Daytona. It's the first road contest for the Eagles in three weeks.

Following the in-state matchup, the Eagles host Florida Atlantic at Alico Arena at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. They continue Atlantic Sun play next weekend when they travel to USC Upstate and ETSU for matches on Friday and Saturday.

A three-game roadtrip concludes with the final nonconference tilt of the season when the Eagles face FIU in Miami on Oct. 16.
