Island Coast scored early, then scored often en route to a 61-6 romp at Mariner Friday night.
Junior tailback Trey Boyd rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns to lead the charge as the Gators improved to 4-1 and 2-0 in district play.
The Gators started their first drive on their own 37-yard line, and for six consecutive plays Boyd carried the ball and capped the drive with a 1-yard plunge. Kory Curtis added the extra point and Island Coast had a 7-0 lead.

Following the first of many Mariner punts, the visitors kept to their game plan of running the ball into the heart of the Tritons defense with much success. On a fourth down from the Mariner 8-yard line, Boyd carried it into the end zone virtually untouched. Curtis' extra point made it 14-0.
The home team again had no offense in the second quarter as Mariner was forced to punt. Just three plays later the Gators were in the end zone again. This time junior tailback Zeland Lambert burst through for a 27-yard score and a 20-0 lead.
Following some sloppy play and an exchange of fumbles, Gators junior quarterback Quinn Bourque brought the crowd to their feet with an electric 70-yard run. Much of that run was brought back due to an illegal block, but Island Coast was not to be denied. On the very next play, Boyd had his third score as he went down the right sideline from 48 yards.
Island Coast was not finished. Forcing yet another Tritons punt, Bourque marched the Gators to the 15-yard line before connecting with wide receiver James Washington for a touchdown pass and a 34-0 lead.
The third quarter was just as bad for Mariner. After consecutive rushing attempts ended in negative yardage, QB Jacob Ward's pass attempt was deflected at the line and picked off by senior defensive tackle Dustin Elg, who lumbered 16 yards to the Tritons' 4-yard line. Bourque called his own number and rolled around the right side for the score.
The Tritons never solved the Gators' stifling defense and punted for the sixth time in seven possessions. Island Coast took over at their own 48, and Bourque kept the ball and scored from 10 yards five plays later.
Aided by a couple of penalties, Mariner produced a consolation score. Sophomore Brennan Williams outran the defense down the right side for a 41-yard touchdown run leaving the score 47-6.
Gators coach Joe Bowen left his starters in the game and continued to score. Tarique Bodrick caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Bourque, and Zaquandre White finished the rout with a 14-yard run with 29 seconds remaining.
Island Coast hosts Cape Coral next Friday, while the winless Tritons welcome the Dunbar Tigers to Tony McKenna Field.
