Bulldogs conquer Jaguars

Ida Baker improved to 12-5 on the season with a straight-set win over East Lee County Thursday night 25-16, 25-12, 25-20.

Kristina Kayatta led the Bulldogs with 15 kills, four digs and four blocks. Ashley Vargas added five kills, five digs and four service aces. Devin Ramey contributed four kills and six digs while Tiffany Woods handed out 18 assists.

The Bulldogs host Oasis Tuesday night.

Riverdale 3, Island Coast 0: The Gators had little response in a straight-set loss Thursday night at Riverdale 25-9, 25-9, 25-13.

The only highlight for Island Coast was Kalli Roggow with five kills, one service ace and three digs. The Gators (5-8) travel to Venice on Tuesday.

Cypress Lake 3, Cape Coral 0: Cypress Lake came to The Nest Thursday night and left with a 25-12, 25-17, 25-12 victory over Cape High.

Samaria Jones and Carly Vilardi led the Seahawks with three kills apiece while Katie Upton contributed two kills with one dig. The Gators (6-7) try to get back to the .500 mark on the season Tuesday night at Immokalee.

Oasis 3, Gateway Charter 0: Emma Nelson's 11 service aces and 11 digs gave her a triple-double with 24 assists in leading Oasis to a straight-set victory over Gateway Thursday 25-13, 25-14, 25-13.

Larra Bickelhaupt contributed eight kills and 17 digs while Tiffany Schramm had six kills for the Sharks (11-5), who travel to Ida Baker on Tuesday.

Bishop Verot 3, LaBelle 1: Ashlyn Brown pounded 16 kills and Teya Leonard handed out 21 assists Thursday night as Bishop Verot outlasted LaBelle 25-14, 23-25, 25-18, 25-15.

Lauren Sheeley delivered 13 kills and Emily Hudson contributed 10 kills while Alena Hernandez added 19 digs.

The Vikings (12-3) host Evangelical Christian on Monday.

Boys Golf

Estero 170, Ida Baker 195, Cypress Lake 228: Baker split a three-way match Thursday, losing to Ester and topping Cypress Lake at Pelican Sound.

Payton Shehane led the Bulldogs with a round of 44. James VanValkenburg shot 4-over-par 40 to claim medalist honors for Estero. Jake Kilgore had the low round for Cypress Lake of 50.

The Bulldogs (6-2) travel to Sebring Monday to play in the Crutchfield-Hawkins Tournament.

Mariner 187, Cape Coral (n/s): Alex Trujillo and Cody Carroll both carded rounds of 44 to lead Mariner to victory Thursday.

With just three players, the Seahawks could not earn a team score, but Sam Johnson turned in the team's low round of 45.

The Tritons (6-2) face North Fort Myers Monday at Magnolia Landing.

Cape Coral 265, Mariner 279, South Fort Myers (n/s): Brooke Ciccone toured nine holes at Coral Oaks Golf Course Thursday in 46 strokes to lead Cape Coral to victory over Mariner and South Fort Myers.

Gerilyn Rossman led the Tritons with 60. South Fort Myers only brought one player and could not earn a team score.

Mariner 279 - Gerilyn Rossman 60, Catheryn Rossman 72, Dana Carroll 73, Samantha Wolfe 74.

Football
