Seahawks rally to down Tritons in five-setter

In a five-set volleyball showdown befitting a city rivalry, the Cape Coral Seahawks came from two games down to knock out the Mariner Tritons 14-25, 20-25, 25-19, 25-23, 15-10 Monday night at The Nest.

The Seahawks turned the tide behind the trio of Casey Ruse, Katie Upton and Carly Vilardi. Ruse delivered five kills and four service aces while Vilardi had five kills and three aces. Katie Upton contributed four aces to go with 16 assists.

The Seahawks (4-4) host Golden Gate Tuesday night while Mariner crosses the bridge to face Cypress Lake.

Port Charlotte 3, Island Coast 0: While improving with each game, the Island Coast Gators did not have a comeback bid against Port Charlotte Tuesday night, absorbing a 25-11, 25-18, 25-19 defeat on their home floor.

Kalli Roggow led the Gators with five kills, five digs and four service aces. Jennifer Fasano contributed four kills and three digs.

The Gators (4-5) host Lehigh Tuesday night.
