Diplomat Wesleyan Church to celebrate 25th anniversary

September 6, 2013
By HARRY ALDERMAN Sr. (Special to The Breeze) , Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Funny isn't it how one day of a month can have so many different emotions tied to it. Take Sept. 11 for prime example. The first thing that jumps up and enters our minds is that horrid sight of planes bursting into flames as they hit the twin towers and the Pentagon.

Our founding pastor has a grandson with that date as his birthday, and finally, and by no means any less important, our founding pastor had the first service for our church on that date.

So this year our calendar has smiley faces and frowning faces.

Twenty-five years ago ago Sept. 11, 1988, we held our first services. At that time it was in the Caloosa Middle school gym. A lot has changed since then. That school was torn down and replaced with a modern one, our church went from there to several funeral home chapels to our home in the middle of Cape Coral.

So if anyone is interested in helping us celebrate our 25th birthday, come out this Sunday, Sept. 8. We are at 1833 Diplomat Parkway, E., just off the corner of Del Prado Boulevard and Diplomat Parkway.

Diplomat Wesleyan Church services are at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Come on over and celebrate with us. Phone 239-772-8788 for further information.

Pastor Rick Stevens is our current pastor and excellent speaker.

Harry Alderman Sr. is a Lay Minister at Diplomat Wesleyan Church
