Baker notches 3rd win in a row

Ida Baker continues its early season surge, posting a 25-17, 25-15, 25-23 victory Tuesday night at Mariner for its third straight win.

Still playing without injured starter Christina Kayatta, the Tritons continue to rally behind Devon Ramey, Machaela Sheffield and Tiffany Wood. Ramey led the Tritons Tuesday with seven kills and three service aces. Sheffield contributed six kills and Wood handed out 20 assists.

"It was a tim win tonight," said Bulldogs coach Rene Van Horn.

The Bulldogs (3-1) host Estero Wednesday night. The Tritons visit Island Coast Wednesday.

North Fort Myers 3, East Lee County 0: North Fort Myers easily handled East Lee County Tuesday night by a 25-11, 25-16, 25-12 margin.

Madison Prusak led the Knights with 11 kills and three service aces. Lindsay Stramel contributed nine kills and four aces while Julie Sherer handed out 27 assists to go with seven aces.

The Red Knights (2-1) host Canterbury Wednesday night.

LaBelle 3, Oasis 1: Oasis appeared on its way to a third straight victory Tuesday night, but LaBelle mounted a comeback that resulted in the Sharks' first defeat.

After Oasis won the opening game, LaBelle rallied for a 17-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-19 win.

Larra Bickelhaupt led the Sharks with 11 kills, five service aces and 15 digs. Alexis Robbins contributed six aces to go with 28 digs.

The Sharks (2-1) play at Gateway on Thursday.

Bishop Verot 3, Dunbar 0: Bishop Verot notched its first season win and district win Tuesday with a 25-5, 25-7, 25-10 win over Dunbar.

Teya Leonard served up 20 aces to lead the Vikings (1-1, 1-0 district), who got eight kills and 18 assists from Ashlyn Brown and seven kills, three blocks from Emily Hudson.

The Vikings travel to LaBelle Thursday night for another district matchup.

Bowling

Mariner vs. Island Coast: Mariner began the season with a sweep, both boys and girls, of Island Coast at All Star Lanes Tuesday.

Quinn Mossey led the Tritons boys (1-0) with a medalist game of 192. Teammates Justin Williams, Doug Hutchinson, Michael Laborde and Ian Cyrus contributed to the 3-2 come-from-behind victory by winning three baker games in a row.

Tim Cipper had the medalist score for Island Coast with 205.

Mariner's girls (1-0) also posted a 3-2 win.

The Tritons host Lehigh next Tuesday at Coral Lanes.
