Ralph James Ruocco, 98, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
Prior to moving to Mamaroneck, he had been a long-time resident of Cape Coral. He was a member of the Cape Coral Planning and Zoning Commission for many years, serving as the chairman of the commission for almost 10 years until moving to New York in 2005. In addition to being active in city business, he had also been a volunteer at the Cape Coral Hospital, an avid painter and a long-time contributing artist to the Arts for ACT Auction in Fort Myers.
Prior to living in Cape Coral, he and his wife, Isabel, lived in Newport, R.I., where among other civic activities he served as the honorary harbor master for the Tall Ships Bicentennial gathering in Newport Harbor.
Mr. Ruocco was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel; his parents; and six siblings.
He is survived by his four children, Caroline Scott of Mamaroneck, N.Y., Maria Paige of Revere, Mass., Joseph Ruocco (Vickie Hage) of Mamaroneck, N.Y., and Teresa (Roger) Beasley of Blanco, Texas; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A private Memorial Mass will be held.
