The Building Industry Association's executive vice president, Heather L. Mazurkiewicz, has graduated from Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. She was also nominated by her classmates to be the keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony at Villanova University in Villanova, Pa., Aug. 1. She completed the program over four years, traveling to Villanova once a year for a five-day session.
Graduates receive the IOM recognition, signifying completion of 96 hours of course instruction in nonprofit management. The Institute has educated tens of thousands of association, chamber and other nonprofit leaders on how to build stronger organizations, better serve their members and become strong business advocates. Through a combination of required courses and electives in areas such as leadership, advocacy, marketing, finance, and membership, participants enhance their organizational management skills and add new fuel to their organizations, making them run more efficiently and effectively.
"That Heather was selected as the keynote speaker speaks volumes for her and the importance of our support for continuing education for our Association leaders," said Steve Richards, BIA president and vice president at Owen-Ames-Kimball Construction Company of Fort Myers.
