85 single-family home permits issued in county in July

During July, contractors pulled 85 permits to build single-family houses collectively valued at $20.8 million in unincorporated Lee County. That compares to 94 permits issued in June and 62 issued in July 2012, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.

Also during July, 11 multi-family units were permitted, compared to 29 in June and 21 in July 2012.

General commercial activity was valued at more than $4.9 million for 12 permits, compared to $8.5 million in June and nearly $3.7 million in July 2012.

Lee County Community Development issued 3,525 permits of all kinds during July.

Lee County Community Development oversees planning, zoning, development and building services, environmental review, building inspection, and code enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Lee County.

Stevens Construction begins work on Bernwood Market Center in Fort Myers

Stevens Construction has been awarded the contract for construction of the Bernwood Market Center located at 9841 Bernwood Place in Fort Myers, announced Mark Stevens, company president.

Stevens Construction is completing the site work, structure and construction of the two existing buildings totaling 28,011 square feet. Construction began in July 2013 and is slated for completion by the end of the year.

At completion, Bernwood Market Center will serve as a retail complex that will accommodate up to 14 business and retail tenants.

The leasing agent for the project is Stan Stouder with CRE Consultants.

Neal Communities sells 23 homes in Villa Palmeras

Neal Communities has sold 23 homes at Villa Palmeras in Estero since the new community opened in June, announced Michael Greenberg, vice president of Neal Communities. Villa Palmeras is a gated community of paired villa homes. Prices for the mix of Crystal Sand and Tidewater residences range from the low to high $200s.

When completed, there will be 110 maintenance-free paired villa homes with lake and preserve views. Two floor plans are available with variations in features for both: The Crystal Sand features two bedrooms, two baths, a great room and an optional den under 1,434 square feet of living area, and a two-car garage. The Tidewater features 1,524 square feet of living space with two bedrooms, two baths, great room and den, plus a two-car garage. The Coconut Club resort-style amenity features detailed landscaping with shaded areas, a heated pool, spa, grill area and a bathhouse.
