Doris Catherine (Bonner) Herrmann

Doris Catherine (Bonner) Herrmann, 84, went home to be at peace with her heavenly father and her husband Saturday, July 20, 2013, after a long illness. She was born in New Bremen, N.Y., and moved with her family to Syracuse, N.Y., when she was young.

After raising her family, she moved to Cape Coral in 1999. She graduated from the Onondaga Valley Academy. She worked for the American Stores Company (ACME) and was a head cashier and training manager before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was actively involved in the Home Builders Auxiliary of Central New York.

She was a loving wife and devoted mother who deeply loved her family. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and joy. She was generous to all with her hospitality, time, talents, and possessions. Full of smiles and laughter, everyone loved her.

She was pre-deceased by her husband of 52 years, J. Robert Herrmann, and is survived by six children and their spouses, 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter: Terry and Sue (LaManche) Herrmann of Aurora, Colo., and Kristin and Erik (Nicolette Cooley and Brielle); Kathy and Jeff Yusiewicz of Hillsborough, N.C., and Carly, Brett and Derek; Jim and Patti (DeCarr) Herrmann of Syracuse, and Jenna and Sarah; Becky and Russell Lynch of Mebane, N.C., and Jacob and Ally; Valerie and Joe Fetsch of Auburn, Ala., and Joe, Mike, and Karen; Dan and Kelly (Meyer) Herrmann of Marcy, N.Y., and Meghan, Erin and Jason. She is also survived by two brothers, David and Bob Bonner of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be in Cape Coral. Visitation will be Friday, July 26, from 6-8 p.m., at the Fuller Metz Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, July 27, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Andrew Catholic Church.
