DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Miracle left-hander Taylor Rogers was named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week for July 15-21 as released by the league office Monday afternoon.
Rogers, 22, tossed a complete game, one-hit shutout against the Dunedin Blue Jays July 18 at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. Rogers improved to 8-3 on the season and lowered his earned run average to 2.61. The Littleton, Colo., native faced just three over the minimum, walked two and struck out eight. Rogers induced 13 ground ball outs and retired the first 11 and last 10 batters consecutively.
Beginning the 2013 season with Single-A Cedar Rapids, Rogers was called up to Fort Myers April 21 and represented the Miracle as the starter in the 2013 Florida State League All-Star game in Dunedin. Rogers is currently tied for second in the league in wins (8) and third in earned run average (2.61).
