Major League Baseball's Office of the Commissioner announced the rosters for the 15th annual All-Star Futures Game to be played on Sunday, July 14, at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets.
Among the invitees are a pair of Minnesota Twins prospects, Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton, who both wore a Fort Myers Miracle jersey this season.
Sano, 20, appeared in 56 games with the Miracle and hit .330 with 15 doubles, two triples, 16 home runs and 48 RBI, scored 51 runs and stole nine bases.
Signed as an international free agent out of San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic in 2009, Sano was MLB.com's top prospect in the Twins organization entering the season.
Buxton, 19, joined the Miracle on June 24 and made his debut the next day. The second overall pick by the Twins in the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Buxton hit .341 in 68 games with Single-A Cedar Rapids, with 15 doubles, 10 triples, eight home runs, 55 RBI, scored 68 runs and stole 32 bases.
Buxton will make his Hammond Stadium debut on Saturday when the Miracle (3-4, 48-26) open a three-game series against the St. Lucie Mets. The Miracle were looking to halt a three-game losing streak against Jupiter Thursday and Friday nights.
