Everest Marina to expand

Everest Marina, a full-service marina and Mercury/Mercruiser dealer, has announced plans to expand. Located at 1838 Everest Parkway in Cape Coral, the facility will soon be adding 30 dry rack slips and haul-out capabilities for up to 20,000 pounds. Work is scheduled to begin at the end of June and the completion of the project is expected by this September.

The expansion will also enhance the company's current products and services, including boat storage, service and repair; new and used boat and engine sales; marine parts; as well as bait and tackle.

Because Everest Marina is situated on a direct access canal, with no locks ore bridges, the new dry slips will accommodate taller boats (those with t-tops or towers) that cannot fit underneath bridges as well as those unwilling to deal with locks.

Owned by Pete Huebner, the marina is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. For additional information, call 239-458-6604.

HomeGoods conducting fund drive for cancer research

Now through June 30, Cape Coral-area HomeGoods shoppers will have the opportunity to support cancer care and research while shopping at the off-price home fashions retailer. More than 275 HomeGoods stores nationwide will be participating in the 12th annual HomeGoods "Helps Families Fight Cancer" campaign benefiting the Jimmy Fund, which supports pediatric and adult cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Mass.

HomeGoods customers can participate by making a contribution at the register to "Help Families Fight Cancer" with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Dana-Farber. Customers also have the opportunity to purchase a reusable shopping bag for $.99 featuring artwork by Jimmy Fund Clinic pediatric patient Phoebe Davis and her brother Caleb.

HomeGoods will contribute $.50 for each bag purchased to the Jimmy Fund. The drive began June 6.

Pavese partners named to 2013 Super Lawyers and Rising Stars list

Francioni joins The Smart Companies

Joseph Francioni has joined the management team of The Smart Companies in Fort Myers, announced company CEO Brian Rist. Francioni is responsible for helping to guide the continued success and growth of the corporation.

Before joining The Smart Companies, Francioni owned and operated Innovative Printing and Signs in Cape Coral for five years before selling the company. The wholesale and retail business served primarily Lee and Charlotte counties. The company earned numerous industry recognitions and community awards including Cape Coral Construction Industry Associa-tion's Affiliate of the Year Award.

Prior to that, he was chief financial officer and chief operations officer at C A Wunder Engineering Inc. in Cape Coral for 10 years. The structural engineering firm offered services from site planning and design to energy calculations for commercial and residential customers in Lee, Charlotte and Collier counties.

Francioni is a 20-year resident of Cape Coral, and is active in the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral and the Cape Coral Construction Industry Association. He is a member of the board of directors of those organizations and serves on several committees.

Nominations open for Blue Chip Award

Owners of small businesses who have successfully overcome adversity are invited to apply for the 19th Annual Southwest Florida Blue Chip Community Business Award.

BB&T-Oswald Trippe and Company and BB&T Bank coordinate and sponsor the program to recognize successful small businesses as well as to share their stories as models for other entrepreneurs.

The competition is open to companies that meet the following criteria: for-profit business; operating under the same ownership for at least three continuous years with principal office located in Lee, Collier or Charlotte counties; employs five to 400 people; and has overcome adversity to achieve success.

Independent judges will select one Lee, Collier or Charlotte business from the field of applicants to receive the 2013 award. Registration begins at 11 a.m. The presentation starts at 11:30 a.m.

Sky Zone Fort Myers selects general manager

Dickson H. Hunley has been named general manager of Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park Fort Myers, announced Jay Highley, franchise partner of the world's first wall-to-wall trampoline playing court. Hunley is responsible for the day to day operation of the business as well assuring a "Wow" experience for all Sky Zone guests.

Sky Zone is set to open in late summer at 14181 South Tamiami Trail, just south of Daniels Parkway in Fort Myers and is bringing nearly 100 jobs to Southwest Florida.

Hunley brings national-level hospitality experience and recognition in the service industry, including general management positions at Bullwinkle's in Tallahassee and Howl at the Moon in Orlando, Baltimore and Charlotte, N.C.

More recently, he was the owner and managing partner of City Tavern and general manager of Celsius Nightclub in downtown Fort Myers.

Sky Zone Fort Myers is building out a 30,000-square-foot facility that will house more than 15,000 square feet of trampolines with activities for all ages and fitness levels.
