Catherine Helen Bania (nee McCaffery), aka Catherine H. Lipnicki-Bania, 68, of Cape Coral passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home in Cape Coral Wednesday morning, May 29, 2013.
Born in Teaneck, N.J., Cathy, aka Caddie, was raised in Jersey City. She was a long-time resident of Middletown, also having lived in Belford and Mount Arlington a number of years. She was a communicant of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Middletown.
She worked for several doctors over the years and in the late '90s decided to be a homemaker, enjoying arts and crafts, and especially enjoyed keeping in touch with her children and most recently her grandchildren.
Predeceased by her father, Hugh P. McCaffery; mother, Mary McCaffery (nee Markey), first husband, Ronald Lipnicki; and twin sister, Mary Jane O'Brien, she is survived by her husband, John Bania; brother, Hugh McCaffery; sister, Geraldine Dallas; her three sons, Scott Lipnicki, Ronald Lipnicki, Jason Lipnicki; and three grandchildren, Maggie Lipnicki, Nicholas Lipnicki and Elizabeth Catherine Lipnicki (named in her honor).
She was a loving aunt to seven nieces and nephews, Michael McCaffery, Kelly Hendricks, Tara Lowen, Sean McCaffrey, Anastasia Stech, Alexandra Sharp and Alexander Dallas.
There will be a Memorial Mass Monday, June 24, at 9:30 a.m., in St. Catherine's Church, located at 130 Bray Ave., Middletown, N.J. All family and friends are invited to attend the service.
Flowers and cards may be sent directly to St. Catherine's Church or brought in person. If you choose you may also donate to the charity of your choice.
