After a first half defensive struggle, led by Island Coast's Christian Diaz and Marlon Gonzalez who recorded multiple tackles for losses, Fort Myers recorded two interceptions, one by Ocasio Cofield and one by Giftson Bornelus.

The lone score of the half came on the first possession of the second quarter when the Gators' QB Quinn Borque connected with Cameron Thompson. Borque then kicked the extra point to give the Gators a 7-0 lead.

The second half featured a one-two punch running game by the Gators. Zelan Lambert and Cameron Thompson both recorded multiple first down runs.

The Green Wave got on the board when T.J. Morgan ran the ball in from two yards out. After that, the Wave was suffocated by the Gators defense who were anchored by Dustin Elg's disruptive presence in the Green Wave backfield.

Quality blocking allowed Lambert and Thompson to rack up first downs, culminating in a four-yard TD run by Lambert.

Later, the same strategy moved the ball down field and set up a two-yard QB keeper by Borque to give the Gators a 20-7 lead.

Near the end of the fourth quarter, Island Coast defensive back Rashad Washington thwarted a Wave drive with a spectacular acrobatic interception to preserve the victory.
