Patsy Jedrzejewski

May 8, 2013
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Patsy Jedrzejewski, Mrs. Jed to many, was born April 3, 1949, in Wilmington, Del., to Patricia Aikin and the late Bennett Lockhart Aikin. She enjoyed a life full of music, sunshine, love and happiness until May 1, 2013.

She has left behind many family members who are so lucky to belong to her: her mother, Patricia Aikin; daughters, Jill Karpel of Dover, Del., and Janna P. Hamel of Laramie, Wyo.; her son, Jonny Jedrzejewski of Los Angeles; her sons-in-law, Todd Karpel and Jerry Hamel; and her five special grandchildren who are the luckiest kids ever to have her as their grandmother, Eliza and Asa Karpel, and Bennett, Sawyer and Finn Hamel.

Ken Jedrzejewski, her husband whom she called Keggy, and in later years Base Unit, was her support, her best friend, the love of her life and her real life prince charming. Patsy and Ken had just celebrated their 42nd anniversary and their life together was a true love story to be admired by everyone who knew them.

Patsy Jedrzejewski

On the day she left this world, her family walked out of the hospital doors and were rained on while thunder boomed and lightning lit up the sky. She had taken her sunshine with her. Later that evening after the rain cleared, the sun peeked through and a beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky; her way of letting it be known that she had made it to her destination.

Mrs. Jedrzejewski thoroughly enjoyed her life. She should be sitting by her pool in the sun with her best friend and love, spending time with her children, watching her grandchildren graduate, get married and have children of their own. Life can be unfair and painful but every one of us who has been touched by the warm smile and presence of Patsy in their lives is a better person for it. Right now and for forever she will be smiling and singing, dancing with the fairies and sprinkling glitter down on us all.
