The Breeze is again proud to have published the Mayors Scholarship Fund Award program book.
Distributed Wednesday at the annual awards banquet and inserted in Wednesday's Breeze, the program highlights the accomplishments of 19 outstanding students this year, each the recipient of a $1,500 scholarship awarded through one of the city's oldest scholarship programs.
The scholarships are made possible through numerous fund-raisers held by the organization now celebrating its 31th year as well as from donations made by the sponsoring businesses.
The program makes it a little easier for the Cape's best and brightest to advance their educations.
We congratulate the honorees who, through academic achievement, school and community involvement, volunteerism and just plain hard work have earned the honor bestowed: Sarim Ahmed, Kelsey Bergener, Alexandra Braun, Stefanie Campbell, Megan Fritz, Glenn Garron, Martha Gonzalez, Rachel Gonzalez-Louis, Ashley Jones, Ian MacCallum, Alexandra Matos, Asmaa Odeh, Chelsea Parza, Shelby Pulley, Bernard Sarmiento, Michaela Steakley, Veronica Stewart, Tiffany Zutten and Heather Zutten.
We also thank the volunteers and sponsors who make the program possible. They are numerous and we are privileged to be among them:
Gold Sponsors: Cape Coral Elks #2596; Cape Coral Ladies of the Elks #2596; Castle Harbour Homes; Waste Pro and the Zemel Trust.

Other organizations that also award scholarships include the Cape Coral Kiwanis Foundation, the Rotary Club of Cape Coral Gold Coast and the Cape Coral Community Foundation as well as the Cape Coral Art League and the Cape Coral Irish American Club, which award specialty scholarships.
The efforts of all of these community organizations and the volunteers of which they are comprised are commendable as they recognize - and reward - hard work, talent and yes, ambition, the key ingredients to future success.
