FORT MYERS - With each passing day, the Fort Myers Miracle continue to re-write their record book.
The Miracle came from behind to beat the Palm Beach Cardinals 7-4 Tuesday to secure a 12-0 start to the season. The 12-game winning streak ties for the longest in team history. The 1995 and 2007 teams also won 12 straight.
The Miracle remain the only team in Minor League Baseball without a defeat.
Minnesota Twins top prospect Miguel Sano was the key cog in the victory. With the Miracle trailing 3-2 in the seventh, Sano hit a titanic grand slam over the left field wall to put Fort Myers ahead for good, 7-4.
That was enough for Cole Johnson, who recorded the last six outs in order for the save.
The Miracle will now turn their attention to win No. 13. They will go for the 13-0 mark Wednesday against the Cardinals at 7:05 p.m. The team already set the record for the best start to a season in team history when it went to 10-0 on Sunday.
On Tuesday, the Miracle got another solid start from Jason Wheeler, who scattered five hits and gave up three runs in five innings. Wheeler struggled with his command, walking four, but he induced three double plays to avoid further trouble.
