Tritons back to .500 mark

The Mariner Tritons reached the .500 mark on the season for the first time in more than a month with a 5-0 victory at Riverdale Thursday night.

Michael Patton pitched five scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out four, to earn the victory on the mound. Enrique Morales backed his effort with a pair of hits whth Tony Lopez driving in two runs with a double and Jacob Martin plating a run.

The Tritons (10-10) host Cypress Lake on Friday.

Ida Baker 20, East Lee County 1: Ida Baker sprayed around 16 base hits and took advantage of five defensive errors Thursday night to rock East Lee County.

Sean Brady, Zack Nason and Darren Latorre contributed two hits apiece for the Bulldogs (14-4), who host Naples Friday night.

Cape Coral 12, Island Coast 2: Mikinzie Ferran drove in four runs with two hits as Cape Coral banged out 13 base hits to throttle Island Coast Thursday night.

Mallory Gerrero, Makenzie Buss, Emily McLain and Carly Vilardi all contributed two hits for the Seahawks (10-11), who face Cypress Lake Monday in the first game of the District 5A-13 tournament at North Fort Myers.

Naples 3, North Fort Myers 0: Julia Hancock delivered a bases-loaded, two-run single up the middle in the second inning to spark Naples to a shutout victory at North Fort Myers Thursday night.

Katie Grubb had three hits and Katelyn Kelly two for the Red Knights (12-9), who play a doubleheader Saturday in Naples at the Longshore Tournament to close out the regular season.

Riverdale 6, Mariner 1: Riverdale scored enough runs early and held on to defeat Mariner Thursday night.

Alyssa Langdale (11-9) had one of the Tritons' three hits, a double, and was tagged with the loss on the mound despite striking out 12 batters. The Tritons (12-9) now prepare for the District 5A-13 Tournament next week at North Fort Myers. The first opponent for the No. 3 seed is No. 2 seed North Fort Myers in the semifinal round at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
