Trailing 4-0 starting the sixth inning, the Mariner Tritons started a comeback that came up short in a 4-3 loss Saturday in a rain makeup game at Fort Myers.
Frank Nater highlighted the Tritons' three-run rally in the sixth with an RBI double. However, the rallied died with the tying run at third base.
In the seventh, the Tritons had runners at second and third with one out, but could not get the potential runs home.
Several baserunning blunders and five defensive errors contributed to the Tritons' defeat.
Michael Patton pitched four innings and was charged with the loss.
The Tritons (8-10) play Tuesday at Lemon Bay.
