Michael John Shelpack, 74, a Cape Coral resident since 1996, formerly of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, in Cape Coral. He was born Jan. 12, 1939, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., to Michael and Mary Shelpack, now deceased.
He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a talented draftsman and architect with some of his designs constructed in New York and Pennsylvania. He was of the Byzantine Catholic faith and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Amy Nicole Shelpack (Frederick) Barcase of Baltimore, Md.; his former wife, Catherine A. Shelpack, also of Baltimore; a sister, Mary Ann (Robert) McFadden of Allentown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Nicholas Alexander Shelpack, Sierra D. Barcase and Christopher J.G. Barcase, all of Baltimore; a nephew, Jamie McFadden, also of Allentown; as well as a niece, Tori Chabani of Boynton Beach, Fla.
No formal services will be held in Florida.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 9, at St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, Allentown, Pa. The family will receive friends at 10:15 a.m. A graveside burial will take place immediately follow services.
