Seahawks stumble 8-3

Cypress Lake surprised Cape Coral Friday night with an 8-3 District 5A-13 victory.

The Seahawks were outhit 12-5 with Cody Carroll collecting two hits and David Schulz adding another. Four defensive errors also helped doom the Seahawks.

"Every loss is a surprise," said Seahawks coach Mike Gorton. "You try to go out there and win every game. The last couple of games we just have not put things together. Our enthusiasm has been lacking."

The Seahawks slipped to 4-3 in district games and 11-7 overall. They host Charlotte on Tuesday.

Island Coast 13, Fort Myers 0: Brennan Rodriguez walked one batter and struck out nine and did not allow a base hit over five innings Friday night as Island Coast shut out Fort Myers in five innings.

Dante Ciminatti and F.T. Corso each contributed two hits and drove in two runs for the Gators. Anthony Curlin also had a pair of hits.

The Gators (13-5, 7-1 district) play at Estero Tuesday night.

Oasis 10, Moore Haven 9: Oasis made the best of three base hits Friday night in a victory at Moore Haven.

More helpful for the Sharks than the base hits were the nine walks and four batters hit by pitches.

Garrett Graeber notched the win for the Sharks (5-14), who snapped a 10-game losing streak. They host Canterbury at Cape Coral Sports Complex at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Softball

Lemon Bay 6, North Fort Myers 2: Lemon Bay wrapped the top seed for the district tournament with a victory at North Fort Myers on Friday.

The Manta Rays strung together three two-run rallies to finish District 5A-13 play 8-0. North slips to 6-2.

Katilynn Grubb had three of the Knights' eight base hits. Sarah Waitekus had an RBI single .

The Knights (12-7) play at Barron Collier on Tuesday.
