Gators stay perfect in 6A-13

Kam Gellinger, Cole Ondrejka, Sean Gavit, F.T. Corso and Nicholas Rodriguez combined for 11 base hits to propel Island Coast to a 10-3 victory over District 6A-13 rival Riverdale Tuesday night and remain atop the district standings.

Gellinger and Ondrejka had two doubles apiece while Rodriguez went 3-for-4 to lead the quintet. Gavit and Corso each had two singles and no one had multiple RBI. Sam Malone led off the sixth inning with a solo home run to cape the 14-hit attack on Riverdale pitching.

Corso pitched six innings, surrendering three runs on four hits while striking out five to run his mound record to 6-0.

The Gators (9-4, 5-0 district) travel to District rival South Fort Myers on Friday.

Ida Baker 3, South Fort Myers 1: Sean Brady pitched a complete-game two-hitter to lead Ida Baker to a District 6A-13 victory over South Fort Myers Tuesday night.

Caleb Farmer and Isaac Struense came through with RBI singles in the first inning to stake Brady to an early 2-0 lead.

After South scored its lone run in the sixth inning, Baker countered with a run in the bottom of the inning on Cody Keller's sacrifice fly to regain the two-run advantage.

The Bulldogs (10-3, 5-1 district) host IMG Academy Thursday.

Cape Coral 9, North Fort Myers 1: Cody Carroll had a double and a single and three RBI and Brandon Pryor had a double and a single and an RBI to lead the Seahawks over the Red Knights. David Schultz added two singles and Regis Easler pitched six innings and struck out nine for the winners.

The Seahawks are now 8-4 on the year.

Softball

North Fort Myers 3, Cape Coral 1: Alynn Kayatta delivered a pair of doubles, including a run-scoring double to cap North Fort Myers' three-run third, leading the Red Knights past Cape Coral Tuesday night.

All scoring came in the third inning. North struck first. With one out and one runner on, Katelyn Kelly laid down a bunt and beat the throw to first, which was wild and both runners scored. After Sarah Waitekus singled, Kayatta doubled to drive in the only earned run of the rally.

Cape fought back with Mallory Gerrero (two hits) contributing an RBI single.

Kayatta and Kaitlynn Grubb each had two hits for North (10-5, 5-1 district), which hosts Fort Myers on Thursday.

The Seahawks (7-8, 1-4) host Dunbar Wednesday.
