Veteran owned/operated architecture firm

opens in Fort Myers

Owned and led by Mark Shannon, a veteran of the United States Army Airborne Infantry (2001-2005), Studio+ Veteran Ops is the newest architecture and interior design service firm in Southwest Florida. It was co-founded with Studio+ founders, Ted Sottong and Damon Romanello.

Verified by the Center for Veteran Enterprise as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, Studio+ Veteran Ops was founded in 2012. The SDVOSB designation allows the company to pursue local/state/federal projects set aside for only SDVOSB companies.

Most recently, the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation licensed Studio+ Veteran Ops as an architecture and interior design firm in the state of Florida. This licensure further set the company apart as there are very few CVE verified SDVOSB architecture and interior design firms in the country and even fewer in the state.

Studio+ Veteran Ops provides architecture and interior design services, and also offers extensive experience in project management and project consulting. For more information on Studio+ Veteran Ops or to learn about collaborating with the company, please contact Mike Lendino at

For more information on the SDVOSB designation and other veteran programs offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration visit

The Studio+ Veteran Ops office is located within the Studio+ main office at 12730 New Brittany Blvd., Suite 606, in Fort Myers. For more information, please call (239) 476-8888.

Lee BIA Builders Care

honored by Florida

Senate leadership

The Majority Leader of the Florida Senate, Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto, recognized Lee Building Industry Association's Builders Care program for its service in the community at the Annual Regional Luncheon Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Plantation Golf & Country Club in Fort Myers.

Benacquisto represents Florida Senate District 30 which includes parts of Lee and Charlotte counties.

The annual luncheon was hosted by Benacquisto and featured the president of the Florida Senate, Sen. Don Gaetz, as this year's speaker. This event is held just prior to the opening of the annual session of the Florida Legislature.

Each year an individual and a local organization are recognized for their extraordinary efforts to the community. This year's honorees were Michael Reitmann, long-time building industry and community leader and Lee BIA Builders Care. An award for exemplary community service was presented to Lee BIA Builders Care, President Butch Ritter. Among 230 people, including many political leaders from around Southwest Florida and the state, attended the event.

Builders Care recently hit a milestone in completing over $2 million in construction services to date and completing more than 130 projects in Lee County for needy and deserving elderly and disabled homeowners in need.

Builders Care is the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association. Its objective is to provide emergency repairs and construction services to elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged people who are unable to obtain home repairs through traditional means. Builders Care enlists the volunteer services of Lee BIA members and leverages grants and donated materials to provide construction and remodeling services to qualified homeowners throughout Lee County.

Builders Care is headquartered at the Lee BIA offices at 10501 Six Mile Cypress Parkway, Suite 104 in Fort Myers. Donations can be made online at, or to the Builders Care general fund at BB&T Page Field branch at 4959 South Cleveland Ave. in Fort Myers.
