James J. Ward, 72, of Cape Coral, passed away Monday Feb. 25, 2013, at his home. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Jan, 22, 1941, to James R. and Edith Ward, now deceased. He served his country honorably with the U.S. Army. After his discharge he joined the New York City Police Department where he served for 20 years. He retired in 1983 and moved to Tuscon, Ariz., where he worked for the department of corrections. He had been a resident of Cape Coral the past six years.
He was a member of the Cape Coral Moose Lodge and Club 1013 in New York.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann of Cape Coral; three daughters, Deborah Frankle, Elizabeth Ward and Suzanne Ward; seven stepchildren, Mary Ann, Jacqueline, Alison, Linda, Raye Marie, Raymond and Richard; one sister, Florence; and one brother, John.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday March 2, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Fr. Eddie Gibbons officiating.
