March programs set at Northwest Regional Library in Cape Coral

Next month's roster of activities at Northwest Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

ADULTS

English Caf

10:30 a.m. Thursdays, March 7, 14, 21

Practice your English with English Cafe, a free, conversation session for adult ESOL and ESL students. Each 90-minute session provides adult learners an opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers. Participants may start at any time. Advanced registration is not necessary.

Nibbles and Novels

10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 13

Enjoy a snack while you chat about books with other book lovers. Come join us.

Book Discussion: Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier

2 p.m. Wednesday, March 20

Rebecca, the classic gothic novel of the 20th century written by Daphne Du Maurier, takes the reader through a dark psychological tale of mystery and passion on an estate called Manderley.

Kids Read Down Fines

5 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 12

Children and teens can earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes of reading, during the allotted time. A total of $8 per day may be earned. For ages 18 and younger. Coupons may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only. Please bring your library card.

Reading Academy

4:30 p.m. Thursdays,

March 7, 14, 21, 28

Reading, spelling, puppets and games! Get a reading boost with this fun-filled program. For kids in grades K-5. Children participating are expected to know how to read and write. Sponsored by the Friends of the Northwest Regional Library. Registration is required. Register online or in person at the library before the program.

It's Spring! Storytime and Craft

6 p.m. Tuesday, March 19

Kids, come to the library for a special spring storytime and craft. For ages 3 to 8. Sponsored by the Friends of the Northwest Regional Library. Registration is required and begins March 4.

Ancient Graffiti

10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 28

Children will learn about cave art and can draw their own story in symbols with crayons on a "cave wall" (butcher paper). For toddlers through kindergarten. Presented by the Florida Public Archaeology Network. Registration is required and begins March 4.

Cookie Excavation

2 p.m. Saturday, March 30

Participants listen to an interactive "Intro to Archaeology" Power Point presentation, then each receives an M & M chocolate chip cookie and toothpick. Can you carefully excavate your artifacts? For grades 1 - 6. Presented by the Florida Public Archaeology Network. Registration is required and begins March 11.

TEENS

Fastest Texter Challenge

5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5

Think your thumbs blaze? Here is your chance to face off against rival texters. There will be three challenges to crown NWRL's texting champion. Prizes and light snacks provided by the Friends of the Northwest Regional Library. Registration is required.

Teen English Caf

10 a.m. Saturdays, March 9, 23

Celebrate Teen Tech Week! Create a keyboard ring using recycled keyboard letters and a ring. Fast, simple and way techie.
