Wright Construction

completes two phases of renovation project at FGCU

Wright Construction Group has completed two phases of upgrades and renovations of the Harvey and Janet Cohen Center (Harv's Place) Student Union Building at Florida Gulf Coast University, announced project manager John Purnell. Wright Construction Group was the construction manager for the project.

The first phase entailed constructing an exterior staircase from the second floor to the ground level to provide an additional egress point. This will allow the ever-growing university to increase attendance at orientation meetings in the main ballroom. Wright Construction also installed a storefront window with glass door, and a custom handrail with built-in LED lighting for increased safety.

Phase II renovations entailed upgrading the ballroom's air-conditioning system and lighting for better energy efficiency to handle the increased volume of students. Wright Construction worked closely with university officials to coordinate the renovation work with all ongoing activities in the Student Union Building.

Wright Construction Group was established in 1946 in Elkhart, Ind., moved to Southwest Florida in 1981, and has offices in Fort Myers, Naples and Punta Gorda. The multi-disciplined firm provides expertise in civil, environmental and all facets of construction services in the areas of multi-family living, office, commercial, medical, governmental, and educational facilities, historic restorations and general building services.
