Joan Morton Keezer, 88, passed away Feb. 16, 2013. Ms. Keezer was born in Hambleton, England, on May 24, 1924. She was one of three children born to Thomas and Emma (Preston) Morton. She married Gerald Winston Keezer on Aug. 22, 1947, and spent 34 years together.
She was educated in England and served in the Royal British Army during World War II. She worked many years in the mental health services field, in Bradenton, Fla. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, John Morton and Frank Morton, and former husband, Gerald Keezer.

She is survived by her three children, Gail Pettengill (Patrick) of Belchertown, Mass., Gillian Keezer of Gainesville, Fla., and Thomas Keezer (Katie) of Cape Coral; three grandchildren, Stephen (Angela) Pettengill, Alex (Allison) Pettengill, and Kristin Keezer; and one great-grandchild, Orion Pettengill.
She was an avid gardener, animal lover and a voracious reader.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society. Arrangements are being handled by Coral Ridge Cemetery.
