Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The Cape Coral police recently arrested and charged David James Marrs, 19, of 4507 S.E. 14th Ave., in connection to a Feb. 10 break-in at a Shell gas station, according to officials.

Between 1 and 5 a.m., someone attempted to pry the back door of the gas station, at 4403 Del Prado Blvd. S. When that was unsuccessful, the person went to the front door and broke it to gain entry into the convenience store.

Once inside, the person stole cigarette cartons, lighters, lottery tickets and $500 cash. Upon leaving the store, the person dropped a few cigarette cartons on the ground.

Officers arrived and began investigating the crime. The dropped cigarette cartons were taken for evidence and processed for fingerprints. A latent print, which belonged to Marrs, was reportedly recovered from a carton.

Officers went to Marrs' home to question him. They found cigarette cartons, lighters and lottery tickets.

Upon questioning, Marrs was charged with burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief.
