Seahawks wash out vs. Wave

As has happened so many times before this season, the Cape Coral Seahawks came unglued in the fourth quarter.

Trailing 43-40 going into the fourth quarter, the Seahawks were outscored 19-6 down the stretch Friday night in a 62-46 loss at Fort Myers.

"Fort Myers is a really good team," said Seahawks coach Tom Kenna. "We battled to the end, but again the ball did not go our way."

David Flynn topped the Seahawks in scoring with 19 points with Andrew Taylor adding 13.

The Seahawks (11-14) host South Fort Myers on Tuesday.

East Lee County 67, Mariner 57: Mariner played catch-up for most of the night Friday, never really getting close enough in a 10-point loss at East Lee County.

Rodney Hunter led the Tritons with 20 points with Rick Moore adding 18 points, 13 rebounds.

The Tritons (14-8) play at Dunbar Saturday night.

Ida Baker 55, Evangelical Christian 54: Ida Baker came from behind in the fourth quarter to record its second victory of the season Friday night at the expense of Evangelical Christian.

Seth Woods hit a game-high 24 points to lead the Bulldogs with Nate Evans adding 14 points and 12 rebounds. Preston Grimm grabbed seven rebounds while Nick Benvie hauled down 10 boards, including several key rebounds down the stretch.

The Bulldogs (2-21) host Marco Island next Thursday.

Mason Taylor's 32 points and eight rebounds led the Vikings.

Football

District Assignments: The FHSAA announced its final football district assignments for 2013-15 on Friday.

Fort Myers moves up to Class 7A along with Riverdale, opening the Class 6A district for Ida Baker, Island Coast and South Fort Myers.

Cape Coral, Cypress Lake and Mariner stay in Class 5A joining Lemon Bay, which dropped two classes. Bishop Verot drops three divisions to Class 3A.
